About Us
The Saint Philip building was first built in 1839. Originally it was two separate but identical residences built by a wealthy Sicilian immigrant for he and his wife and his daughter and her new husband. At that time, this particular section of the Quarter was known as the Sicilian Quarter, and was home to many Italian families and businesses. After falling into disrepair in the early 1900's, it was converted to rental units in the 1920's and fell into a state of disrepair during the depression. In the 1940's the building was operated as "gentleman's hotel" by one of the notorious madams of New Orleans. It has enjoyed a colorful past and has a rich history. Living at the St. Philip and in the French Quarter is a rich and vibrant urban experience.
